CALL FOR ARTISTS

A Residency at Leith Hill Place with the National Trust and Surrey Hills Arts

We are looking for a dynamic and socially engaged, emerging artist from any discipline, for example a performing artist, visual artist, filmmaker or writer, to take up residence at Leith Hill Place for 3 months between August – Oct 2024. We are open to any artform and interested in work that relates to the history or geology of the site.

The residency will be an opportunity for you to develop work and explore connections across the site with support from the host organisations. There will also be opportunities to engage the community in the work.

Who can apply?

We are looking for an artist from any discipline that meets the following criteria:

  • Commitment to a socially and critically engaged practice.
  • Newly emerging artist – an artist at the beginning of their career.
  •  Ability to think and plan creatively and critically.
  •  Effective communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills.
  • We particularly welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds, including race, disability, age, sex, gender, identity, sexual orientation, religion and belief marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity and those with caring responsibilities.
  • We are committed to creating opportunities that are accessible to all however, the suitability of the host location Leith Hill Place and the residency space being upstairs with no lifts, might preclude some artists from accessing the space for this residency at present.
